Coming back into the bright light of day

Having been immersed in a swamp of academia for the past month, I have finally completed my thesis. Happy Dance.

The bad news is I let Thanksgiving slip by. This is where a politically correct person might have an explanatory note on Thanksgiving for all the non-American readers, but let’s face it- only about five people acutally read this thing, and I know only about 2.5 of them have ever been out of the country, so I won’t bother. In all truth, I probably wouldn’t care anyway. But I would be remiss if I let the event pass without remembering all that I am thankful for, so here it is-

– I am thankful for explosions, as they can make even the Mission Impossible movies enjoyable.

– On more than one occasion, I’ve found shards of various materials embedded in my skin. I’m thankful that I can’t remember how they got there.

– The more I learn about the human mind, the more I am thankful for my lack of one.

– I am thankful for caffeine, as it keeps my heart pumping.

– I am thankful for my family and friends, as they constantly remind me that sanity just isn’t necessary.

– I am thankful for my roommate, as he always makes me look neat and tidy by comparison.

– I am thankful for the cute little animals, for they are tasty.

– The heavy pollution in my area causes acid rain to fall. I am thankful that it wears the grime off my car.

– I am thankful for handlebar mustachios. Because I can always laugh at them.

– I am thankful for warhammers. They break things.

So there it is. This means I’m not an ungrateful dimwit like some (most?) believe. So tell everyone what you’re grateful for. Unless you’re grateful for ecoterrorists like PETA. In addition, I am grateful for my shit luck with all things. Really, I am. Because as inconvenient, and downright dangerous as it is, it has made me into the man I am today.

… wait a minute…

Confusing…

I read the headline of this story, and something seemed out of place. Can’t put my finger on it. Not sure I want to.
